Last Breath, Chapter One: Lost Souls
The sun beat down harshly on the wreaked environment. Trees had been pulled from their roots and all vegetation seemed lost. One spot seemed the worst, for all the dirt had been pushed aside. Life cut off at the tree line, where an invisible barrier might have been standing. Only one flicker of life was brave enough to enter. An abnormally large wolf padded through the burning wasteland. Her dusty brown fur only added heat to the exhausted creature. The wolf's tongue was draping form her maw as it panted harshly.
Farther away an arm was halfway covered in the sand. A body hidden away beneath the wreckage. The wolf's head lifted as she took in a deathly scent. She lopped over to the arm and sniffed it gingerly. "Carrion...I should leave it for the scavangers..." She growled roughly. Yet suddenly her ears flickered and the fingers twitched. The wolf backed up, startled by the dead arm's movement.
Her teeth soon made contact with the arm as she pulled back. She was startled to see a burnt body being dragged out of the dust and dirt. Then she knew it was dead, until she saw the faint rise and fall of its chest. Her eyes widened, amazed to see the ninja still alive. The wolf looked over the body, one more backing up at the sight before her. A large mouth with razor like fangs on the body's upper chest. She then knew what to do as the shallow breathing began to decrease.
The wolf took a deep breath and slowly transformed into a human. Her eyes were a striking yellow like a wolf's. Chocolate brown hair draped around her shoulders and to her mid-waist. Wearing a black tank top with fishnet sleeves and light tan skirt with leggings underneath. She walked to the body in slow movements and draped one of his arms around her shoulders and she stood slowly.
She picked u pa slow gait, the weight on her back allowing her to only go so fast. After hours of walking trees and grass came into sight, and Raku let out a relieved sigh. The trees began to close around them as Raku felt the soft earth under her feet. Trees began to close in around the two as the brunette began to run, seeing a familiar site ahead. A large cavern with a drape of ferns and moss that hung in the opening. She walked under the ferns and walked down a large tunnel. It came to a dead stop, and Raku made an unseeable hand sign. Within moments another tunnel appeared and opened into a large cavern. It resembled a normal house, exept the bed. It was a large ditch filled with soft mosses and feathers. The ninja walked over towards a kitchen and set the blonde down to where he was sitting against the cave's wall. "I'll be back, do not wake up when I'm gone...Or else you'll be dinner." She spoke in a rough tone. The rouge transfomred into a wolf and bounded out of the cave, heading towards a peaceful village...For now anyway.
